THE ENCOUNTER OF A FAMILY, THE DISCOVERY OF A PLACE

Some projects are born from a need, and others from an encounter. “Our Sweet Rhythm”

is one of those. When we first pushed open the doors of the private mansion Alfred Sommier, a stone’s throw from the Madeleine, a connection was immediate. There is,

of course, the charm of the place; staircases spiraling toward the sky, a lobby where light lingers, a rooftop overlooking the Parisian zinc rooftops. But not only that. Above all, there is an atmosphere. A blend of elegance and human warmth.

A very particular family home that is above all a 5-star hotel. It is precisely Pia and her father Richard de Warren who open its doors to us. From their singular and complete vision of hospitality, a conviction emanates. Places have a soul that must be cultivated with sincerity and passion. It is therefore in this setting, redesigned by them in 2018, that the idea for a short film was born, as a tribute to the place and its family history.

DANCE, THE BODY, MOVEMENT AS ACTORS OF THE NARRATIVE

True to the vision of Pia and Richard de Warren, of a living heritage and an embodied hospitality, we wanted to give life to the place. It is thus that, to showcase in just a few minutes the richness and diversity of the hotel’s spaces, we made the choice of dance.

An architectural and editorial choice, because dance brings volumes, materials, and trajectories to life. A dance that we could only tell through film.

Axelle and Sullivan, two contemporary dancers from the Alaïa company, thus embodied the lovers Rose and Marius. For them, the scenario was designed like a trail. A romantic treasure hunt where each space, interior as exterior, reveals at once its beauty and its clues.

HISTORICAL AND FAMILY HERITAGE AS RAW MATERIAL

Alfred Sommier. The name of the man who made this private mansion a landmark of Parisian hospitality. The son of a baker who himself made his fortune through sugar, it is his gourmet story that inspired the film’s guiding thread. In the narrative, the madeleine imposed itself naturally, first as a Proustian symbol of family memory, but also as a wink to the neighboring church, and of course as a gentle echo to the origins of Monsieur Sommier. Prepared by the pastry chef at Les Caryatides, the hotel’s restaurant, or hand-sculpted by artist Magali Carrière, the madeleine punctuates the entire short film. CREATING TOGETHER, WITH TALENT “Our Sweet Rhythm” is also for Prélude the story of a way of working. From the screenplay to the artistic direction, through to the set design, we deployed our team’s expertise while enriching it with the know-how of partner talents: floral designers, make-up artists, content creators, stylists. “Our Sweet Rhythm” would not have had the same flavour without the eye of Stéphane Morin, the videographer at the helm of Mémento. Drone shots that follow the curves of centuries-old staircases, a camera that never loses the body’s rhythm, a sensibility at once cinematic and editorial. Resolutely fashionable, deeply human. He gave the film its breath and depth.

A depth itself embodied by the music “Super Moon” by French artist Love Supreme. Haunting notes, a melody that is at once gentle and dramatic, intimate and intense, giving this passionate chase the rhythm of the obvious.

A SCORE WITH MANY HANDS

Because each tableau deserved to be complete, we composed the project with exceptional brands and houses that embody this same relationship with elegance, with excellence.

The costumes come from the Pleats Please collection by Issey Miyake: fabrics that unfurl with movement, a drape that supports the dance steps, a contemporaneity in dialogue with the heritage of the place.

J.M. Weston shoes anchor the bodies in an allure that is French, confidently creative, timeless, while L’Ingénieur Chevallier, the historic house of Parisian nobility, dresses their gaze with a delicate mystery.

On Marius’s wrist, the Furlan Marri watch translates the impatience of a great moment, while on Rose’s finger it is the ring from contemporary jewelry house Tityaravy that immortalizes it. Finally, perfumer Stéphanie de Bruijn Paris, adds to the project’s sensoriality the invisible essence at the origin of their love.

From the conception of the project to its operational realization, from the production of the film and photo packshots to the search for partnerships, Prélude imagined and produced the entire project. A global approach and bespoke storytelling, at the service of exceptional venues, brands and private clients.
